We are delighted to inform the public that Women4Cyber North Macedonia is officially launching the project “Women’s Digital Risk Map and Youth Cyber Ambassadors for Safe Digital Democracy”, supported by a project through the Digital Spark grant scheme, part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project, implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation in partnership with Techsup, and as part of the bigger initiative of CIVICUS – Digital Democracy Initiative.
In our daily work, we are increasingly facing a concerning trend of online harassment, privacy violations, and gender-based digital abuse. These risks discourage women and girls from actively participating in digital civic spaces, leading to self-censorship and withdrawal from public discourse. Unfortunately, accessible, gender-focused localized data visualizing how these risks act as barriers to democratic participation is still missing in our country.
What We Will Undertake
Over the next 6 months, this project will address these challenges through a dual, innovative approach:
- Women’s Digital Risk Map: We will develop a secure, anonymous digital platform to collect data on the digital risks faced by women, transforming the findings into a publicly accessible interactive map.
- Youth Digital Security Ambassadors: We will train 5 young women as Youth Digital Security Ambassadors to lead peer-to-peer safety sessions and disseminate our specially prepared Digital Safety Toolkit.
Our goal is clear — to foster a safer, more inclusive digital environment where women can safely exercise their rights, protect their privacy, and participate in democratic processes without fear.
